Toy Dolls: Our Last DVD? (2004) (693mb = 76 min.)

England’s THE TOY DOLLS are a wonderfully fun and talented band that unfortunately has been treated relatively like a novelty in the US. The band’s level of talent and cleverness are things that in general betray the label of “punk rock” and tracks like “Nellie the Elephant”, “Dig that Groove Baby”, “She Goes to Finos” and “I’ve Got Asthma” are classics that one can never get tired of. After two and half decades the band considers calling it quits, although they are far from “dried up has beens” and it would be a shame for them to cut short their continually growing legacy of consistently entertaining music.

This DVD release features excellent audio and video quality as 27 tracks are performed in Utrecht Tivoli, Holland. It’s an absolutely solid and enjoyable show that highlights the band’s humor and talent as they barrel through each track with the hyperactive energy of a young kid hopped up on sugar. Ever the showmen, the band breaks into several interesting cover song choices that seem completely out of place in their chosen genre yet pulled off spectacularly. Watching the band bust out “The Entertainer”, “Wipe out”, “When the Saints go Marching in”, or “Toccata” bring a smile to one’s face and prove there is much more to this band than it may seem on the surface.

Sex Pistols - Live Tokyo Japan 15.11.1996. (664mb = 67 min.)

The Sex Pistols were an iconic and highly influential English punk band, formed in London in 1975. The band originally comprised vocalist Johnny Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock (later replaced by Sid Vicious). Although their initial career lasted only three years and produced only four singles and one studio album, the Sex Pistols have been described by the BBC as "the definitive English punk rock band." The Pistols are widely credited with initiating the punk movement in the United Kingdom and creating the first generation gap within rock and roll.

Beatsteaks - Rock Am Ring 2004 (476mb = 30 min.)

The Beatsteaks formed in 1995 in their native Germany, playing local shows at food festivals and by the end of that summer, the punk-popsters were recording a demo Beatsteaks - die Erste which went on to sell more than 1000 copies. Still only in high school during this time, the Beatsteaks steared straight for their musical dreams, constantly participating in area competitions and talent shows. In 1996, the band won a competition that led them to open for the Sex Pistols in Berlin, marking the band's tenth show. The latter '90s were also spent recording and touring; in 1997 48/49 was released and a spring tour followed as well as support dates with Lagwagon, the Bloodhound Gang, Dog Eag Dog, and Faith No More. By 1999, the band inked a deal with Epitaph and recorded their major-label debut Launch with Uwe Sabirowski (Mad Sin, Thumb). The following year found them on the road, but by the end of 2001 they had settled down and were ready to step back into the studio. The results, 2002's Living Targets, were more melodic and aggressive than previous releases.

Discharge - Victoria Hall Hanley Stoke 11.03.1983. (742mb = 47 min.)

Discharge was formed in Stoke-on-Trent in 1977 by two brothers, Terry (Tez) Roberts (vocals) and Tony (Bones) Roberts (guitar) Roy (Rainy) Wainright and a drummer called Acko (Tony Axon). The name itself was chosen due to it being obnoxious. Tanya Rich was their manager at this time, organizing their gigs. The first single, 'Realities of War' was released circa March 1980 and as Mike Stone did not have a distributor, he sold copies to shops of of the boot of his car. The single got into the top 10 of the Indie Chart in Sounds (a UK weekly music newspaper). This was followed by 'Fight Back', which again hit the Indie Charts.

Dropkick Murphys - Cathouse Glasgow 2000 (770mb = 41 min.)

Dropkick Murphys formed in 1996 in Boston, MA. The band was originally just a bunch of friends looking to play music for fun. We started playing in the basement of a friend's barbershop and our goal was to blend the musical influences we had grown up with (Punk Rock, Irish Folk, Rock, and Hardcore) into one loud, raucous, chaotic, and often out of tune mix that we could call our own. To our surprise people seemed to liked it and we began to record music and tour constantly.

Business - Live At Rio's - Suburban Rebels (661mb = 58 min.)

The Business formed in 1979, and went on to become one of the leading bands of the second wave of UK Punk Rock. The band were often seen as the leaders of the “OI” movement, closely associated with Punk. The original line-up went on to record several classic anthems, including “Suburban Rebels” and “Harry May”. A modified line-up then went on to further eighties notoriety with singles “Smash The Discos” and “Drinking And Driving”. After an extended break from recording and touring, the band’s current line-up came together in 1994, and is still going strong to the present day, playing to adoring fans all over the world. “Suburban Rebels – Live At Rio’s” features the band at their snarling live best, with a full show from their 1998 UK tour. All of their classic anthems are featured alongside many live favourites.

Disk 1: Suburban Rebels | The Whole Truth | Never Be Taken | Mortgage Mentality | Spirit Of The Street | Do They Owe Us A Living? | Saturday’s Heroes | Justice Not Politics | Out In The Cold | Blind Justice | Guttersnipe | Loud Proud & Punk | One Thing Left To Say | Real Enemy | Smash The Discos | Southgate (Euro ‘96) | Harry May | Drinking & Driving

DOA & Jello Biafra - Live in DNA Lounge SF 20.11.1990. (555mb = 29 min.)

Being from Canada, D.O.A. were unlikely poster boys for the punk movement that raged in San Francisco's North Beach district from the mid 1970's to the mid 1980's. But the band's fierce persona, radical political views, and spirit of protest could not be ignored. THE END captures their final concert ever--on November 20, 1990 at the famed DNA Lounge. With a special guest appearance by punk activist legend Jello Biafra, the performance ranks as one of the band's greatest.

Dickies - Live In Los Angeles 1983. (301mb = 31 min.)

The Dickies were amongst the first punk rock bands to emerge from Los Angeles, the first Californian punk band to appear on network television and the first Californian punk band to be signed to a major record label (instead of an independent label.)

The Dickies' style was campy and humorous with obvious influences from The Ramones (for whom they sometimes opened). They were popular in the UK, and had a Top 10 hit single with "Banana Splits (Tra La La Song)" in 1979. Many of their lyrics were about aspects of Southern California life not easily decipherable to those unfamiliar with the region, in songs like "Waterslide", "I'm A Chollo", "Manny, Moe and Jack", and "(I'm Stuck in a Pagoda with) Tricia Toyota", which is about a local TV news anchorwoman.

Drug problems slowed them down considerably in the 1980s, but they have continued playing and recording sporadically to the present day. In 1988 they wrote and performed the theme music for the movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Bad Brains - Live Daytona Beach Us TV 1988. (241mb = 25 min.)

The Bad Brains are an exceptionally influential American all-black hardcore punk and reggae band, originally formed in Washington, D.C. in 1977. They are widely regarded as being among the pioneers of hardcore punk.

Originally formed as a jazz fusion ensemble, the Bad Brains developed a very fast and intense punk rock sound, which was both musically complex and more extreme than most of their punk rock contemporaries. The Bad Brains are one of the first American hardcore punk bands, commonly cited by many fans as the first hardcore band, though this is not surprisingly under persisting debate. They were also an adept reggae band, in a sort of Jekyll-and-Hyde arrangement, while later recordings featured elements of funk and heavy metal. The Bad Brains were also notable as religious Rastafarians.

The Bad Brains broke up and reformed several times over the years, sometimes with different singers and/or drummers. The group's classic lineup features singer H.R., guitarist Dr. Know, bass guitarist Darryl Jennifer, and drummer Earl Hudson.
